COLERAINE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
BASIS OF FAITH
The Church shall be based on the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith, as taught in the scriptures.
• The Divine Inspiration of the Bible as the Word of God and its authority and sufficiency in all matters of faith and conduct.
(John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
• One God, eternally existing in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 5:7)
• The full Deity of Jesus Christ: His incarnation as the Son of God; His sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to Heaven and His mediatorial intercession.
(John 1:1-3; Romans 5:6&8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
• The universal guilt and sinfulness of human nature because of the Fall, rendering man subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
(John 3:18-19; Romans 3:23)
• Salvation by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ Alone. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)
• The work of the Holy Spirit to impart spiritual life at conversion, bringing an individual to repentance and faith, and His sanctifying work thereafter in the believer.
(John 16:7ff; Romans 8:16)
• The everlasting bliss of the believer with the Lord in Heaven, and eternal conscious punishment of the wicked in Hell. (Matthew 25:46; Luke 16:19 ff)
• The personal visible return of Christ for every true Believer.
(John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 ff)
